Raven God is firmly rooted in the old school black metal tradition. Not overly raw (thankfully), but with plenty of room for melody. Overall, this is an album that feels complete for its variation in approach and pace. The vocals are hoarse and understandable, the latter being a bit of a rarity I feel. Raven God causes no revolution in the land of black metal, nor does it pretend to. Great album!
